Interact Helps to Make Richmond a Better Place to Work and Live
Anyone who’s ever visited Richmond upon Thames, the home of Interact, will already know it to be a beautiful historic town offering the very best shops, pubs and restaurants. Not only is it situated on a picturesque stretch of the river Thames, but it’s also a gateway to the iconic Richmond Park.
As part of Interact’s commitment to serve the local Richmond community and improve the environment where our employees spend a lot of their time, we are pleased to announce that Operations Director, Sarah Leff has been elected as vice-chair of BID (Business Improvement District) Steering Group Richmond, a new organisation run and funded by the local businesses of the town whose aim is to deliver a series of environmental and commercial initiatives to further develop the area as both a business and a visitor destination, making it a more pleasant and prosperous place for all.
In the few months since its inception, BID Richmond has introduced a subsidised recycling scheme for its members and appointed a power-washing service to regularly clean the pavements in the parts of the town with the heaviest footfall. Future planned initiatives include improved signage and using a greener waste removal service with fewer trucks to help improve air quality. BID Richmond also aims to become a powerful voice when it comes to influencing decision-makers on wider issues such as planning and transport.
It was through BID Richmond that we became aware of Facewatch; a scheme set up by the police to tackle shoplifting and petty crime in the area. Interact has since donated two laptops to local stores, enabling the staff to report incidents quickly and share information with other local businesses through the Facewatch online system.
